Welham Motor Company was first founded in 1947 just after World War 2 and has always offered a range of engine reconditioning and machine shop services during its 75 year history.
In 2017 we purchased a new Rottler machine for reboring cylinder blocks, this has greatly reduced the timeframe for reboring and is automated so we can set up for a run of identical blocks. We still have our old machine and now have two operatives so that we can run both machines together.
In addition we have the capability to do lineboring on a separate machine, as well as refacing the block to give the best possible finish.
Despite their age, our crankshaft regrinding machines are still regarding as some of the best and together with our trained operative we can offer regrinding services for virtually any crankshaft large or small.
Our cylinder head reconditioning department can carry out pressure testing, UV crack testing, valve guide replacements, recutting valve seats and lapping-in new valves. Finally the head can be skimmed to a very fine tolerance to ensure it is perfectly flat before fitting back to the engine.
